CJJF Central

This “No-Gi” class is designed for beginners and advanced students and consists of basic Jiu-Jitsu techniques adapted to make up for the lack of a uniform to grab.

The student normally wears shorts and a rashguard instead of the traditional uniform (Gi). When the student wears the Gi, students can pull, push or control their opponents by using the Gi for gripping.

Without a Gi, the student uses wrestling style grips (behind the head, wrists, ankles, etc.) since they cannot grab clothing, this style can be a bit more challenging since grips can be slippery and the student relies on more technique to control and submit their opponent.

Students will learn how to take down, hold down and apply joint locks to submit opponents who are not wearing a Gi (uniform).
