Jon Serapion is a dedicated firefighter and the head instructor at CJJF Central Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Aiea, HI. With over 18 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jon began his training in 2007 and earned his black belt under the guidance of Aldo ‘Caveirinha’ Januario, mastering both the sport and self-defense aspects of the discipline.
In addition to his commitment to Jiu-Jitsu, Jon is a passionate firefighter, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to community service and safety. He seamlessly integrates the discipline and resilience honed in firefighting into his teaching style, ensuring that his students not only learn effective techniques but also cultivate mental fortitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
Jon remains deeply invested in the development of his students, continuously refining his teaching methods and bringing new insights to his classes. His approach blends analytical rigor with hands-on practicality, helping students progress from beginner to advanced levels.
A graduate of Pearl City High School and a former standout athlete in baseball, Jon earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Hawaii, where he played for the Rainbow Warriors. His strong ties to the Central Oahu community enrich his understanding of his students’ needs and aspirations.
Throughout his journey, Jon has emphasized respect, humility, and the pursuit of lifelong learning. He strives to forge lasting connections with each of his students, guiding them not only in mastering Jiu-Jitsu but also in developing resilience and integrity both on and off the mat.
