Coach Kyle began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in late 2015 while attending Chaminade University of Honolulu. At the time, he was training in boxing at Palolo Boxing Gym when a few friends encouraged him to try a Jiu-Jitsu class. After attending a class under Professor Aldo “Caveirinha” Januario, Kyle was immediately captivated by the art.
Through Jiu-Jitsu, Kyle experienced a complete lifestyle transformation, with fitness, humility, and respect becoming core values. A brown belt, Kyle trained under Professor Caveirinha for approximately 6-7 years, competing in multiple local and IBJJF competitions before pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Jiu-Jitsu has mentally and physically prepared Kyle for both his career and his personal life. He is now a proud member of the CJJF Central Ohana, training under Professor Jon Serapion alongside an incredible group of coaches and students. For Kyle, being part of CJJF is more than just being on a team—it's about being part of a family.
Kyle's goal is to pass on the knowledge and values he's gained from his Jiu-Jitsu mentors to those new to the art. He hopes to share the positivity, discipline, and life-changing benefits of Jiu-Jitsu with as many people as possible. Outside of Jiu-Jitsu, Kyle is happily married and a proud father of two young daughters, who will soon be joining him on the mats!
